Building automation with VIPA technology
Since 1993 the AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. has been developing and producing motors for AUDI AG and other corporations of the Volkswagen concern in the Hungarian Györ. Additionally the company started the serial production of Audi A3 limousine in June 2013 and the new Audi A3 cabriolet followed in October. Both members of the A3 family are the first Audi types which are completely produced at the Hungarian location. For this, Audi established a new automobile factory with a complete production chain – starting from the pressing plant right up to the car body construction, the paint spray line and the mounting.
VIPA controls parts of the building automation
Approx. 40% of the building automation of the new factory is equipped with VIPA controllers. Conception, process control engineering and plant implementation are completed by the company Prozesstechnik Kropf GmbH loctated in Oberkotzau/Germany. Part of the control cubicle construction for the new Audi factory is done by HERMOS Schaltschrankbau from Mistelgau/Germany.
Prozesstechnik Kropf equiped Györ with VIPA controllers in the following fields:
- Energy distribution and ventilation technology for the areas pressing plant, paint spray line, mounting and pressing plant
- Different extraction units for example at two aluminum grinding machines within the car body construction, and the logistics
The CPU 315-4NE12 for the PROFIBUS and Ethernet communication and the CPU 315-4PN12 for the PROFIBUS and PROFINET communication are deployed as central CPUs. The decentralized communication is carried out by PROIFBUS and Modbus protocols and by EnOcean.
For operating and monitoring of the process control engineering 10” touch panels TP610C from VIPA are deployed including the already preinstalled operating system Windows Embedded CE6.0 and partially Zenon Runtime 6.22.
A solution exactly suitable with VIPA components
There were many reasons for the selection of the VIPA CPUs of the 300S family and the SLIO family for the decentralized stations. With the integrated SPEED7 technology the 300S CPU family combines the classic compact 300S type with enormous speed advantages.
There were also many arguments for the deployment of VIPA SLIO module in combination with the fast SPEED7 CPUs. On the one hand the SLIO modules offer speed advantages by means of the very fast back plane bus with 48Mbit/sec transmission rates. On the other hand they are characterized by their extremely compact, space-saving type. Almost all common transmission protocols can be transmitted decentralized so that global use is possible.
This additional example of a functional interaction of process control engineering and PLC control technology shows that even in a very demanding field this solution achieves successful results.
