The certification audit was arranged by the TAW Cert certification company for QM systems and personnel. The certificate for an improved and certificated quality management system was not a priority for VIPA at the beginning, but it was the possibility to adapt the existing company and organizational structures to the full-sized enterprise. With this the requirements of the ISO-9001 certification offer the appropriate framework. The implementation resulted in many of the requirements being essentially exceeded.
All processes of the multiple awarded company were clearly structured and illustrated in the electronic quality management system. The sustainable process of improvements is guaranteed through internal audits of all processes and regular customer survey.
A very important aspect was the involvement of all employees in the information and decision process from the beginning. It was clear, that a successfully implementation of the requirements depends on the motivation of the employees. Constant meetings with differently composed committees control the scheduled progress of the measures and take the necessary corrections.
This process will not be finished with the conferring of the certificate, but will continue.
“For 25 years our company philosophy has been to develop and improve the status quo and to offer our customers high-quality products and performances. The ISO certification underlines this aim.”, says Wolfgang Seel, founder and CEO.
About VIPA
VIPA GmbH was founded in 1985 by Wolfgang Seel in Erlangen as a system house for automation engineering.
Step by step the company developed its own hardware components which resulted in the production of the first PC based machine operating panel in 1990. Further control components and communication modules were developed. Companies in the automobile, logistics and food industry as well as plants and machinery industry were one of the first purchasers.
The launching of the modular automation system 200V provided the basis for the development of PLC Systems 100V and 300V.
With the development of SPEED7-High-Speed-PLC a further technological milestone in the automation engineering was set in 2003. Based on a PLC ASIC from the subsidiary Profichip GmbH, a PLC was developed, which set new standards in processing speed, memory availability and storage management. VIPA expanded its range of products in 2005 with the Touch Panel family, which was completed with the VIPA Touchcontrol Panel – a Touch Panel with an integrated SPEED7-CPU – in 2008. So today VIPA has an integrated product portfolio for nearly all applications in automation engineering.
Meanwhile VIPA is represented by 62 branches and services partners in 60 countries worldwide , so that a fast and smooth service on site is guaranteed.
With a growth which is above the market average over many years, VIPA shows that the company is on a forward-looking way with the rigorous implementation of its aims.
In 2000 VIPA moved into the modern headquarter in Herzogenaurach with over 2000 square meters. The new expansion building in Herzogenaurach was opened in 2009 to fulfil the increasing customers requirements as well as the increasing number of employees (now more than 160).
This year VIPA looks back to a success story of 25 years: Innovation as the power of VIPA – art of automation.
